Maestro Media’s expanded partnership with Grimoire Garage signals an effort to turn REWIND from a successful game into a repeatable platform for licensed IP. After Disney Afternoon REWIND raised more than 10 times its original Kickstarter goal, creating a dedicated development studio gives Maestro a structure for bringing additional entertainment properties into the same modular system. For licensors, the model offers an interesting proposition: familiar underlying gameplay can be adapted around different franchises, potentially reducing the need to build an entirely new game concept for every license.
The bigger opportunity is franchise scalability. If REWIND can establish recognizable mechanics and branding of its own, Maestro can use new entertainment licenses to attract different fandoms while encouraging existing players to follow the system from one release to the next. Grimoire Garage’s veteran tabletop talent, combined with Maestro’s crowdfunding, direct-to-consumer and retail strategy, could also provide an effective testing ground for licensed concepts before broader distribution. In an increasingly IP-driven tabletop market, REWIND is positioning itself as both a game system and a vehicle for extending entertainment brands into interactive play.

The modular game system will receive a dedicated development studio
LOS ANGELES, CA – Sept. 21, 2026 – Maestro Media has announced an expanded partnership with Grimoire Garage to continue developing the company’s REWINDTM game system across new entries and IP partners.
REWINDTM started with a successful Kickstarter campaign for Disney Afternoon REWINDTM which brought a beloved block of 90s Disney TV shows to tabletops while raising more than 10 times its original goal. The overwhelming support from fans for this modular game system has demonstrated there is ample opportunity to tap into similar passion across the media landscape.
“I want REWINDTM to create an accessible, expandable gaming experience for fans of all ages and interests,” says Javon Frazier, CEO of Maestro Media. “Our partnership with Grimoire Garage demonstrates our commitment to that goal, and our belief that this system is so special it deserves its very own production studio.”
Grimoire Garage is a design and creative services agency for tabletop publishers made up of industry veterans, including founding partners Nathan and Jordan Weisman. Nathan, previously a member of award-winning teams at Funko Games and Forrest-Pruzan / Prospero Hall, created REWINDTM in the first place. Jordan, meanwhile, is well known as the founder of FASA, WizKids, Harebrained Schemes, among other companies, and being the creator (or co-creator) of BattleTech, Shadowrun, HeroClix, and much more.
“Grimoire Garage is all about helping tune up games on their way to the market, from concept, to production and everything in between,” says Jordan. “Our talented team has been under the hood of REWINDTM from the start, and we could not be more excited about the game mechanics and how well they mesh with all the amazing properties.”
The partnership will see Maestro and Grimoire Garage collaborate on new REWINDTM games spanning a range of entertainment properties. Since the system is designed to adapt to each IP while retaining the accessible, modular gameplay that defines the series, each entry will feel familiar to REWINDTM fans while still being appealing to newcomers.
“Everyone at Grimoire Garage and Maestro sees the incredible potential of this partnership and the REWINDTM system as a whole,” says studio manager Juliane Parsons. “We can’t wait to create opportunities for fans to play in their favorite franchises for years to come.”

About Maestro Media
Maestro Media is where fans come to play.
The company was founded in 2015 based on a simple belief: the world’s greatest franchises don’t belong on a shelf — they belong in the hands of the people who love them. Where others publish games, Maestro builds a platform where fandom becomes something you can hold, play and belong to. It runs on a flywheel — crowdfunding, direct-to-consumer, and retail working as one engine — that turns a single moment of passion into a lifelong relationship.
Fans aren’t an audience Maestro markets to. They’re participants, embedded at every stage from the first sketch to the final roll. That’s how a casual player becomes a founding backer, and a backer becomes an advocate for life.
That platform is now home to some of the most beloved IP in the world (The Binding of Isaac, Clash of Clans, Disney, Hello Kitty, The Smurfs, and Sally Face) brought to the table by the most visionary creators working today:
- Edmund McMillen – Creator of The Binding of Isaac
- Eric Lang – Designer of Blood Rage, Rising Sun, and Clash of Clans: The Epic Raid
- Ken Gruhl – Designer of Mantis and Exploding Kittens titles
- Roberta Taylor – Designer of Creature Comforts and The Smurfs: Hidden Village
- Antoine Bauza – Creator of 7 Wonders, Tokaido, and Takenoko
- Steve Gabry – Creator of Sally Face
- David Gordon – Designer of Monkey Palace, Finspan, Floristry
- Phil Walker-Harding – Designer of Sushi Go!
