Spin Master and Universal Expand Partnership with Multi-Property Plush Deal

Global Toy News Insight
Spin Master and Universal are expanding a 16-year licensing relationship with a new multi-property plush agreement covering EMEA beginning January 1, 2027. The deal brings together franchises including Gabby’s Dollhouse, How to Train Your Dragon, Jurassic World, Jaws and E.T., with Spin Master developing core, collectible, stylized and customized plush formats.

For the toy trade, the bigger story is portfolio licensing rather than a single-IP deal. By putting preschool, theatrical franchises and evergreen properties under one plush agreement, Universal can address very different consumers and retail occasions through one experienced toy partner. For Spin Master, it expands its licensed plush business while leveraging its existing EMEA distribution and retail infrastructure. The inclusion of Jaws and E.T. alongside current children’s franchises is particularly interesting because it gives the assortment potential to reach beyond traditional kids’ plush into nostalgia, fandom and the growing adult collector market.
