Fluora and Monos sensory-friendly lamps from color+light

Whatโ€™s that buzz? Perhaps the hoopla stems from the soothing power that Fluora and Monos sensory-friendly lamps emit. color+light โ€“ the company behind both of these playful items of dรฉcor โ€“ recently distributed the fixtures to prominent members of the American neurodivergent community. Not surprisingly, reception has ranged from very warm to electric!

Oakland, California-based artist collective color+light originated as a premium builder/installer of large scale themed attractions and art installations for retail and other commercial spaces. When the creative team pared down its work product, Fluora and Monos evolved. According to the color+light website, Fluora is โ€˜the magical LED houseplantโ€™ and Monos is the โ€˜next step to bring the magic of immersive lighting to the world.โ€™ Both models are suitable as home and office accessories, and both boast customizable animations: essentially, color patterns that individuals are able to manipulate with the corresponding mobile app.

Fluora and Monos lamps are capable of emitting a diffused, variegated glow that reduces harsh shadows and glare. This gentle illumination seems less likely to trigger sensory overload, and subsequently facilitates relaxation. This cozy luminosity mimics natural daylight, thereby promoting a sense of wellbeing that hard, fluorescent overheads simply cannot match.

Both lamp styles feature app-adjustable color settings. Whether itโ€™s blue-green hues or shades of pink, neurodivergent individuals often have unique color preferences that promote peace of mind. With Fluora and Monos, users choose their ideal ambiance, which manifests a secure, personalized space.

Netflixโ€™s Emmy-winning LOVE ON THE SPECTRUM reality dating series regulars Dani Bowman and Adan Correa (respectively) received Fluora care packages and went on to video record effusive praise about their new kidult toys.
