

Spectrum Laboratory closes National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) with a musical variety show that features top tier neurodivergent talent.
Spec Labs stages a National Disability Employment Awareness Month heart-stopper! Spectrum Laboratory – the LA-based, 501c3 non-profit performing and visual arts production studio of LOVE ON THE SPECTRUM standoutsDani Bowman and Abbey Romeo, plus HORSEGIRLS’ lead actress Lillian Carrier – and many more neurodivergent performing, visual and audio artists – is dying to meet you at this year’s SPEC-O-WEEN extravaganza, reanimating for its fourth turn at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in Hollywood, California on Thursday, October 30th.
Trick or treat yourself to the jaw-dropping lineup, including improv comedy from the Spec-Ond City Players, electrifying live musicfrom four Spec Bands, and a chilling tour de force from Spec Labs’ voiceover director Cathy McAuley and her ensemble The Haunted Voices. It’s all tied with a garotte and garnished with a screening ofcreepy festival darling HOUSE OF MASKS (short film), whichreveals an awfully talented creative team, including director and lead actor Atticus Jackson (THE PERFECT PALM), Domonique Brown (ATYPICAL), and Chelsea Darnell (2025 Autism Care Today’s ALL GHOULS GALA “Lending Your Voice” honoree).

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the hijinks high-kick off at 7 p.m. Spec Labs encourages audience cosplay to enhance the overall theatre-going experience. New VIP options will not only get you a coveted Spec-O-Ween t-shirt but also a signed poster by famed artist, animator, and new Kaleidos “Super Machitos” blind box toy designer Jorge Gutierrez. Most notably, he is the star of Spec Labs x Autism in Entertainment documentary FIGHTING WITH AUTISM, which exhibited at San Diego Comic-Con Film Festival 2025.

Thus far, we have enjoyed an unforgettable 2025: two shows at Laugh Factory; a first-of-its-kind talent management collaboration with Sandstone Artists and Autism in Entertainment, plus many bookings that resulted from this endeavor; competition honors for our short films HOUSE OF MASKS, BENCHWARM NERDS, and FIGHTING WITH AUTISM: JORGE GUTIERREZ VISITS SPECTRUM LABORATORY; a greenlight for our first Spec Labs original feature film CAVERNS AND CHIMERAS; a new Burbank studio; and now the grand reveal of this year’s SPEC-O-WEEN.
