…The Nightmare Edition

After London – which I have had the privilege of living within an hour’s travel of my entire life – the three global cities I have spent the most time in are New York, Nuremberg and Hong Kong. It’s probably a similar story for many people who have spent decades working in the toy market.

I will be returning to New York this weekend for the first time in 18 months to attend the Toy Fair. It’s a little later than usual in the calendar than is traditional, but those of us who were hoping for better / warmer weather are about to be disappointed – apart from a freakishly warm Saturday, both Sunday & Monday are hovering around or below 0 degrees.

This year marks a return to Q1 for the event, after a brief dalliance with moving the show to September (which didn’t really catch on) in 2023 and a gap year in 2024. There was even a fleeting moment when the show was scheduled to move from New York to New Orleans, but common sense prevailed, so New York here we come.
