Standing Together: Supporting California Communities Amid Devastation

As we watch the horrendous devastation in California where an area twice the size of Manhattan has been destroyed, everyone is struck by the vulnerability of those living in Southern California, particularly in regard to earthquakes, mudslides, fires and empty reservoirs.

The toy industry has deep roots in California and we at Global Toy News want to reach out and say we care, we hurt for you and we would love to help in any way we can.

The thing that really struck me is that regardless if houses are in tact or businesses survived, communities have been destroyed: schools, churches and synagogues, grocery stores, housing, post offices-everything. My friends in California are in shock and they all say that having people check on them and just reach out to hear the stories and connect is gratifying and uplifting, because the ache of being isolated is crushing.

Here are some places that people can give to:

Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund
Supports intermediate and long-term recovery efforts for major California wildfires, as well as preparedness efforts.

California Fire Foundation
Provides immediate assistance to victims through programs like supplying disaster relief cash cards to those affected by wildfires.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles
Assists in rebuilding homes for those affected by wildfires.

Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation
Registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that directly supports the Los Angeles Fire Department

World Central Kitchen
Nonprofit that immediately prepares and serves meals to communities impacted by natural disasters and during humanitarian crises.

And if you know someone in Southern California, reach out and let them know you care.
We are a strong and purposeful community, let’s connect, call your friends and colleagues,
