In a move that’s anything but automated, Wonkybot Entertainment launches the “Wonkybot Kids” YouTube hub. In doing so, the company marks a significant evolution from its signature audio storytelling and into animation. This transition not only showcases the company’s out-of-the-box mindset, but also demonstrates its commitment to inclusivity, particularly in relation to the autism community. The debut of short-form preschool animated series BLISS, plus the rollout of a character-driven merchandise strategy, highlight Wonkybot’s goal to fashion a nurturing environment for all children, including those with neurodiverse needs.
Wonkybot founder Stewart St. John is an animation staff alum of the iconic Hanna-Barbera studio in Hollywood. Fast forward to the present: In establishing Wonkybot, St. John blends familiar HB narrative building blocks – think classics like THE FLINTSTONES and THE JETSONS – with the needs of contemporary families.
The March 6 launch of the Wonkybot Kids YouTube channel is a watershed Wonkybot moment. The channel hosts a growing array of family-friendly animated shows based on the studio’s successful podcast network, thereby diversifying the audio format and engaging audiences in new ways. The brand trailer teases upcoming projects and tees up Wonkybot Kids to emerge as headquarters for its various intellectual properties.
Leading the charge is BLISS, inspired by the hit podcast FOLLOWING BLISS. It stars Bliss the Friendly Fairy, her wand Wandie, and her unicorn friend Starlight. They embark on adventures that underscore themes of kindness, confidence, and individuality. The series supports a commitment to fictional examples of emotional intelligence and positive self-image: personality traits that are especially relevant for youth on the autism spectrum.
Recognizing the unique challenges of children on the spectrum, Wonkybot makes inclusivity and accessibility top priorities. St. John states that, while BLISS isn’t explicitly categorized as an autism program, it is built on principles of mindfulness, emotional awareness, and gentler storytelling. These tend to resonate with neurodivergent families. Through carefully crafted plots, narration, dialogue, music and an overall soothing audio-visual tone, Wonkybot delivers content that feels engaging for all.
Accompanying the launch of these animated series is a focused strategy on merchandise, reinforcing the idea that these characters logically could/should/would extend beyond screens and into tangible consumer products. The studio’s ownership of its intellectual properties allows for smooth integration of merchandise into its storytelling world. Stewart notes the encouraging reception of existing merchandise and hints at future partnerships.
Stewart elaborates on his plan. “Yes, we’ve already sold merchandise tied to some of our characters through the Wonkybot Shop, and it’s been delightful to see fans connect with those items as the shows grow. As we introduce more of these worlds in animated form, we see opportunities to expand into larger markets. Because we own the underlying IP and produce everything in-house, Wonkybot is uniquely positioned to grow these characters across platforms.”
St. John continues: “As creator/writer of all the properties, I stay closely involved in each new iteration, including the upcoming TARA TREMENDOUS live-action film — helping ensure the legacy and quality of the characters remain consistent as the universe expands.”
We’ve also launched a publishing arm — Wonkybot Publishing — to grow these worlds through books like TARA TREMENDOUS, PRINCESS SARIKA and SPOOKY TROOP MYSTERIES.”
