Container prices are down sharply from last year. Drewry, a research organization that tracks ocean freight costs, states that container prices are down 35% from last year.
On the other hand, I spoke to an industry executive who told me that last year at this time, he paid over $17,000 for a 20-foot container. This year a 40-foot container is costing him $8500. That would indicate that his price has dropped by about 75%.
So, to get some sense of where pricing is, if you are an importer, please answer this one question question poll by clicking on the above link.
