Toys for Tots Needs Help

Toys for Tots is feeling the pain this year as fewer toys are being donated. Here is how Marine Corp Staff Sergeant Robert Bacchus puts it in this Today Show piece, “TODAY is teaming up with Toys for Tots for Season of Giving.

There are many organizations that have had to shut down because of COVID. We’ve seen an overall 40% reduction in toys coming in.”

It has been, as we all know, a very tough year for a lot of families. Children who have had a hard year may have a harder Christmas.

Why are there fewer donations this year? Blame it on Coronavirus. Because people are avoiding crowds and human contact, many in-person toy drives have been canceled this year. As an example, according to the article, “There were 100 Toys for Tots toy drives in the New York City area, but this year, there were only 12.”

Hasbro has answered the call by contributing 1,200,000 toys this year. If your company has contributed already, let us know. If your company plans to donate, let us know that as well.
