The Spielwarenmesse #4: Where to Stay in Nuremberg

The Spielwarenmesse is the world’s largest toy trade show. It comprises 17 buildings covering 2,368,060 square feet of space and featuring over a million toys; it is a must-visit destination for anyone who works in the toy industry.

Nuremberg is the host city, and it is beautiful and medieval, with a host of hotels, restaurants, and bars. I suggest staying in the town and taking the U-Bahn (subway) to the fairgrounds. It’s clean, safe, easy to find, convenient to take, and inexpensive to ride. Plenty of attendees will be sharing the U-Bahn with you so don’t worry about knowing where to get off. You can, of course, also take cabs, if you are so inclined.

Here is a U-Bahn map. I have circled the train station (Hauptbonhauf) and the fair grounds (the Messe).

Hotel rooms get scarce the closer you get to show time, February 1-5, 2013. If you wish to attend, you can book a room by visiting any of these websites: https://www.spielwarenmesse.de/en/visit/stay, air bnb, bed and breakfast, bookings.com, or Nuremberg Tourist Office. Prices start at under $100 Euros ($104 US) per night.
