Baseball Table Top Games From 100 Years Ago; An Appreciation


Well, it's baseball season so I thought it would be fun to take a look back at some  baseball themed board games from 100 years ago. The above game was published by the McLaughlin Brothers company in circa 1890. The company was sold to Milton-Bradley in 1920

The above Christy Mattheson game is an example of early sports licensing. Mattheson is considered one of the game's greatest pitchers and managers. 


We couldn't have a list of vintage games without including Mliton Bradley's "Babe Ruth Baseball", circa 1930.


"The National Game", seen above, was published in 1896.

No, its not a board game but I just couldn't resist the below ad from the 1890's. Note that it refers to the players as Ballists.
