I have just finished producing he Toy Talks forum in conjunction with the Guangzhou International Toy & Hobby Fair and based upon conversations with and my observation of audience behavior: "It was a great experience for me, my fellow speakers, and the audience".
Speakers Crystal Zhong, General Manager of China's biggest retailer, Kidsland; Gary Man, noted Hong Kong toy designer; Laura Post, former head of research for Lego; Kirsten Ytterbo, Senior Vice President of Chinese toy company King Bee Toys; Matt Hudak, Senior Analyst – Toys & Games of Euromonitor International and Robin Raskin, technology thought leader and Founder of Living in Digital Times all provided insights, data and knowledge that are not normally available to the public.
It was a full house and those of us in the audience and on the stage all exited a lot smarter than when we entered the auditorium. Whether it was learning about the domestic Chinese toy markets and players, discovering the differences between Chinese and Western tastes in toys or learning why children will insist that their toys speak to them, those in attendance paid close attention and took it all in.
My thanks to the Messe Frankfurt, the Guangzhou International Toy & Hobby Fair, and all of the speakers for a great experience.
