I recently got back from a business trip to Japan, which along with my recent visit to China added wonderful memories to my many years of travel. The meetings were very productive, but what I enjoyed most was spending time with some very talented members of the toy industry to get to know a little more about them and their culture.
I think that’s one of the reasons this industry is so special—getting to have daily relationships with people all over this big bouncing ball we call planet Earth, and enjoying the many opportunities to develop new ideas and technologies together.
Global partnerships produce strong corporate production chains along with innovative product development, however, this synergy also strengthens individual career skills through open dialog and the sharing of unique cultural visions.
Every Christmas season gives me time to reflect upon how fortunate we are as creative professionals—we get to design toys that will provide hours of play for children across the world. That’s right up there with my buddy Santa Claus, who by the way, is getting ready to make his rounds.
In all sincerity, there is no better season than this to send warm regards and best wishes to my toy friends around the world. May your lives be filled with beauty, your hearts filled with joy and your work filled with the endless wonder of play.
