Pokemon Go: The More We Walk The Bigger It Gets!

Kim
Did you spend your weekend roaming around looking for Pokémon? Forbes is reporting that Pokémon Go is “About to Surpass Twitter in Daily Active Users on Android.” Consider that for a moment. Twitter has been around since 2006 and Pokémon Go just launched July 6th. Couple its newness with some serious server hiccups due to the high demand (Forbes called the launch a “complete disaster” – ouch!), and it’s amazing that Pokémon Go is nearing this milestone.

The thing I find most interesting is that Pokémon Go encourages users to be active and move around their neighborhood, whereas you could be a die-hard Twitter user and never move from your couch. There has been talk for years in the toy and game industry on how to develop products that make kids AND adults be more active.  Who knew so many kids and adults would spend their free time walking around looking for Pokémon using an augmented reality app! People are taking notice of this side benefit; IGN said, “Pokemon Go is Secretly the Best Exercise App Out Thereand Gizmodo reports that people are complaining on Twitter that they're sore from "accidental exercise!"

Anyway you look at it, it’s a hot new gaming trend that’s putting users a whole bunch of steps closer to making their daily 10K goal!
