A Night at the Races in Hong Kong

Some might say that the toy business is one big gamble so I guess it is appropriate that, each year, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council takes a group of toy industry leaders and press to Hong Kong's Happy Valley Race Track. It's an evening of socialization and a little betting.

This year those of us in attendance got a double treat as Women In Toys continued its global dominance by having their event on the same night and at the same venue…just one floor up.

This is WIT's  25th anniversary and it was a nice way to launch the anniversary year as the Hong Kong chapter welcomed over 70 international and Asia specific guests ranging from licensors, retailers, manufacturers and governmental organizations.

In visiting these events, I had a chance to speak with westerners who live in Hong Kong.  What they all seemed to have in common was that they loved the city.  I can see why; it's cosmopolitain, it's clean and it's safe.

By the way, I bet on one horse whose fur, from where I was standing, appeared to be pushed the wrong way. I lost.
