Hasbro and the 1927 New York Yankees

Hasbro-logo-feat-imageI can remember attending a Yankees game in early 2009.  As they called the line-up for the game (Derek Jeter, Hideki Matsui, Robinson Cano, Alex Rodriguez…) I thought to myself:  “How do these guys lose?

300px-NewYorkYankees_PrimaryLogo.svgThat was what I thought as I read the transcript of Hasbro’s recent 1st Quarter conference-call.  Star Wars, Transformers, The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Jurassic World, Disney Princesses.  "Really, how do these guys lose?"

Wait, that’s not the 2009 Yankees, that’s like the 1927 Yankees’ “Murderer’s Row” of  Earle CombsMark KoenigBabe Ruth,Lou GehrigBob Meusel, and Tony Lazzeri.

You have to hand it to Brian Goldner and his Hasbro team for putting together a line-up of brands that is so good that it is bucking the headwinds that have negatively impacted so much of the toy industry. Hasbro is in a position to swing a heavy bat for a long time to come.  Nothing lasts forever but the future sure looks bright.
