A Great Toy & Game Inventor of the Year Awards

Slide-1
It was another great year for the Chicago based Toy & Game Inventor of the Year awards.  The toy industry's members and loved ones came together at Navy PIer's Grand Ballroom to honor those men and women who have the intelligence to create new tools of play and the courage to bring their ideas to fruition.

I have always loved the TAGIE awards because they so much about love and heart.  It is people who are honored and not corporations and that means a display of love from friends and families.

I thought nothing more could demonstrate the tight knot that exists between business and friendship than Wai Or of Longshore Limited making the trip from Hong Kong to Chicago for no other reason than to show the Or family's deep connection to and fondness for Michael Kohner, this year's Lifetime Achievement award winner.

Mary Couzin,  thank you  and the ChiTAG volunteers for each year giving us this gift of acknowledgment, memory and thanks.

  1. Thank you, Richard! It was an elegant celebratory evening – laughter, tears, magic and even comedy! We didn’t just have our industry in attendance, but had media, bloggers and non-industry attendees. Over 22 countries were represented. The goal is to get the TAGIEs on TV, Netflix or similar and we will!
Tim Walsh, the host, carries the evening with class and humor. Tom Quinn the producer and director brought us to a new level of entertainment and closer to our goal.
Hasbro, our Presenting Sponsor, doesn’t just write a check. Friends such as Alan Hassenfeld, Leif Askelind and Phil Sage have believed in us and what we are doing. They have supported us financially, emotionally and creatively since the very first TAGIE Awards 7 years ago because they believe in the importance of the inventing community.
There are others: Peggy Brown writes scripts and Brian Torney is our program editor. We have ‘stunt’ people like Tanya Thompson, Anna van Slee, Richard Gill, Bruce Lund, Mike Hirtle, Marilyn Marwedel, Nate Scheidler and many others.
It is a community production! As you said – it is from the heart!
