Ashley Mady, president of Brandberry, is a brand builder with a proven track record in design, marketing, licensing & merchandising. Ashley is a creative hybrid who blends innovation and business. She's a designer by trade and began her career at one of the largest toy companies working on hit properties including Hannah Montana. As an agent, she has experience reinvigorating established brands such as The Wiggles and building/launching new IP from the ground up. Proprietary brands Ashley and her team have created include Scanimalz, Beary Sweet, POP! Fortune, Rock Candy Girl, Poopeez, Deviled Eggz & Moonicornz.
It’s been a little over one month since I became president of Women in Toys and it’s already been challenging, rewarding, and even more fun than I could have ever imagined!
While we have many goals for 2014 and beyond, my primary focus is on our members. I want to get to know each member and understand what they’re looking for and how we can help them or their business grow and thrive. But most importantly, I want to get them involved in the many exciting opportunities that WIT offers … opportunities that will help them get ahead while affecting positive change in our industry.
To do this, we’ve created committees which are each chaired by board members and/or active members. By joining a committee, members will be able to really expand their networking reach, while giving them the chance to bring their skill sets and talents to the forefront as we work together to make WIT the absolute best it can be. We have committees working on exciting mentorship programs, new scholarship initiatives, and a robust website redesign, just to name a few.
We’re also working to improve other areas of WIT, beginning with a new mission statement that captures the heart and soul of what WIT is about and the goals we hope to achieve. We have expanded our member benefits, and will also be offering new corporate membership packages. We have created a WIT members-only group on Facebook where members can stay connected and share information online and a concierge service so members can easily meet up in different cities while traveling.
All very exciting … And there’s a lot more on the way!

While we’ve accomplished so much in short period of time, there is still much work ahead! Events that we’re working on include a WIT breakfast at the Licensing Expo, local networking events taking place around the world, and our biggest event of the year – The 2015 Wonder Women Awards, held during NY Toy Fair.
I think it’s important to note that WIT is a volunteer organization. We rely on our members’ involvement and their fresh new ideas to grow, but we also count onthe support of our sponsors, partners and donors so that we can meet and exceed the expectations of our members and truly make an impact on the industry at large.
